Quinta da Devesa was already included in the first map of the Douro Demarcated Region, created by Baron of Forrester in 1844. Acquired by Fortunato family in 1941, it has been since then dedicated to Douro and Port Wines. On the Cima Corgo sub-region, and only 10 kms away from Peso da Régua, Quinta da Devesa vineyard and winery are located on a promontory which overlooks the confluence of the rivers Douro and Corgo, from where a wonderful sight can be enjoyed, covering the valleys of the rivers and mountains of the region. Its 34 hectares, planted with the grape varieties recommended for the region, go from a quota of 60 m up to 500 m high, part facing south getting an excellent sun exposure, and part facing the buttresses of Marão, where it receives natural cool winds. This diversity of solar and wind exposure provides different
levels of grape maturation and development, which allow to temporize harvesting in optimal
conditions.

Douro - DOC
Aged for 18 months in new French and American oak barrels and minimum ageing of 12 months in the bottle.
Careful selection of the best grapes, with manual harvesting. Traditional foot treading in granite ‘lagares' (shallow treading tanks).
The nose is aromatic, concentrated and offers power. It reveals notes of cassis, blackberry and small notes of liquorice associated with touches of strawberry, small berries as well as touches of flowers, olive tree / local vegetation, racy minerality, mocha, spices, Ceylon tea and Sichuan pepper.
The palate is fruity, wellbalanced and offers a good definition, juiciness, tension, an acidulous frame as well as a small minerality. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry, wild cassis and small notes of strawberry, black cherry associated with touches of flowers, olive / vegetation, fresh / juicy blueberry, tonka bean as well as very discreet toasted hints and an imperceptible hint of Sichuan pepper in the background. Tannins are fine and a bit dry. Good persistence with notes of tonka bean and on a very discreet hint of caramelization.
